Do you have a sunburn baby, or are you always this hot?

Okay I couldn’t resist this pathetic pick up line.  Sunburn oh yeah – 3rd day and still suffering and my chest is actually the worst part of the burn -major burning.

Yesterday we decided to go to Tulum to see the ruins.  Here is Jeff holding a little Iguana.  He loved every minute of it.

Now I have to tell you that I just don’t see all the excitement and thrill about seeing the ruins – I just think “old rocks” but I thought we are in Mexico we should go see them and besides Dan really wanted to.  We decided to go to Tulum instead of Chichen Itza because it was closer (not as many ruins to see) but remember “old rocks”.

We arrive at Tulum and it’s about 700 degrees in the shade.  Someone told us it would be 20 degrees hotter at Chichen Itza because there is no breeze there off the ocean.  I’m glad we aren’t there.  So we haven’t even bought the tickets yet to go in and Jeff is stinking hot and I’m even stinkier hot so Dan thought we should forget about going in but we went in anyway and deposited Jeff at the ocean so he could swim (he literally ran to the sea) and we deposited me under a tree in some shade and Dan walked around to see the ruins.  I did look at one – seen one, seen them all.

Jeff got a kick out of  the lizards that were all over the place – very typical around here.  This is one of them just walking around.

So we finally had enough and decide to leave.  Dan is walking quickly, Jeff is walking behind him and I’m a good 300 yards behind the two of them dragging along.  We were going down some stairs and I could see a huge lizard to the left of me – no problem – it’s not moving.  Then I hear something in the bush and I called to Jeff and Dan “Hey guys, come here, there’s something in the bush”.  I no sooner get the words out of my mouth than a huge Cerassa (or what I call big rat) comes running out of the bush – scares the crap out of the lizard – he comes running towards me – and I took off like a bat out of hell.  There was a worker there killing himself laughing and of course my lovely husband says “That’s the fastest I’ve seen you move all day” – hmmmm, another day in Mexico.
