Vote me off the island -Please

As I sit here in Mexico on the terrace looking at the ocean I’m reflecting over the last 3 weeks and I have to say that this was a much needed vacation – for all of us.  We got to spend some time together and just really relax and chill.  The condo we have been staying at is wonderful and quiet!  I’m going to miss it but we will be back here in June and we all know how quickly time flies.  Dan and Jeff flew home on Saturday and I’m spending the last couple of days here alone.

We decided to go to Cozumel last week (before Dan and Jeff returned home) and all I can say is what a trip (literally).  We decided to go to Cozumel for the day because we heard how beautiful it is and how great the snorkelling is, blah, blah.   We go into Playa del Carmen to board the ferry and yes I wiped out BIG TIME.  I hit the ground – first my knees, then my hands and last but not least my face.  My glasses flew off and I was splat down on the ground.  Talk about embarrassing.  My boys are used to it because I fall all the time.  People come running and help me up, wash me off and away we go.  This should have been a sign of things to come – but off we went.   I did bruise quite nicely so besides the brown tones and red tones from my tan/burn I have added some black and blue in there.  Luckily my face was fine but my hands and legs were not.

We boarded the ferry to Cozumel and away we go.  When the ferry docked and we got off I couldn’t believe the vendors there trying to sell you everything.  It was just like you see on TV when the actors walk the red carpet and the cameras are flashing and the paparazzi are yelling at them – only this was a steady line of Mexicans trying to sell you stuff and yelling at you – we heard everything from Hey Mr. Whiskers, Hey Mr. Clean (for Dan) and Hey Mr. Spender and Hey Mr. Dude (for Jeff) and what did I get…..well the worse pick up line I have ever heard…Hey Senora – want to ride my donkey!!! (he didn’t have a donkey, if you know what I mean) - Yeah unbelievable.

We get past the line up carrying all our gear for the day – backpacks filled with my book, camera, towel, sunscree, all the gear for me to lie on the beach while the guys carried snorkel gear to do what else but snorkel.  Well – it didn’t quite happen that way.  First of all the island is quite big and you can’t get around without a vehicle.  We rented a car and away we went in search of the perfect snorkelling spot.  We never did find that spot because the only areas to snorkel were at parks where you had to pay to get in, pay for your chair, pay for your umbrella, pay for….well you get the idea.  So we decided to do the drive around the half of the island that is somewhat populated and then left the island.  The guys decided the best snorkelling was right in front of our condo.

I couldn’t wait to leave the island – totally commercial and I think that may have to do with the cruise ships that pull in there.  I can only imagine what it is like during busy season – not for me that’s for sure.

I have some exciting news to share with you about some new products – I’ll leave that until tomorrow but I will give you a hint.  Those of you that love the Share and Tell albums by Pebbles will be very very happy

Till tomorrow
